Technical Advisory Services on Subsea Light Well Intervention Work on Okono-2 Well (OML 119)

Project Info

Client – Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC)

Location – Benin City and Lagos, Nigeria

Status – Completed

Date –  July, 2017

Provided Light well intervention advisory (on subcontract) to NPDC for Okono-2 well, offshore Nigeria. Okono-2, an intelligent subsea completion in Okono field (OML 119), has been producing from only one of its three perforated zones since inception, with the producing zone currently watered out and producing significant volume of sand.

In order to reduce water production from the well and solve the sanding problem, INFIL Petroleum was subcontracted to provide technical advisory services.

We designed a cost-effective rigless well intervention solution to help NPDC deal with the twin problems of sanding and water production from Okono-2, in addition to increasing the well’s oil production by about 8,000BOPD.

The project (currently awaiting execution) involves use of FMC’s Riserless Light Well Intervention technique (RLWI) for bridge plug isolation of the lower producing zone, and to mechanically lock-open the shallower perforated zones for an anticipated production uplift of 8,000BOPD.
